My Apartment Story
I have been living in my apartment on my own for over a year now, I truly enjoy having my own space. When I first move to go to college, I did not know what to expect. I never thought that cleanliness would be such a problem until I had roommates. I notice that not having an organized environment affected my mood, and having a filthy place made me cringe. I found myself being embarrassed to invite people over to the shared space. Little did I know that everyone had that one roommate that did not wash their dishes, did not attribute to house chores and left spoil food in the fridge. After moving 5 times to different college apartments within 3 years. I decided that this was the last straw, I moved into my 475 square feet apartment in April 2017 and I hated it.
I immediately notice all the flaws in the plain space, the smell of fresh paint, the holes on the walls that have been replastered, the miniature appliances (that I have never seen in my life, and I did not know miniature appliances exists) and not to mention my teeny-weeny kitchen that was not upgraded. I was pissed. I had no choice but to move in because I had already paid the deposit, moved out of my old place, plus I had my furniture in the U-haul truck waiting outside and I had nowhere else to go.
My first biggest dilemma when moving to the apartment was figuring out where to put the couch. I have four windows in this space and did not want to put the T.V in front of a window. My thoughts were what if there was a fire and I needed to go out the window, or what if there were an apartment inspection and I was fined for blocking a potential exit. I decided to put the T.V in front of the window and if I do end up getting fined I would blame it on the designer who chose to put four windows in a small space.
After coming up with ideas as far as how I wanted my space to look, I am finally half satisfied with it. Of course for someone who loves home decor especially for a bargain price, I can't help but to constantly move furniture around. I am currently loving the cleanliness and the sweet smell of home.
